The stash-buster afghan/blanket/whathaveyou is going well but it's not an exciting knit- no challenges, no learning curve, no great ideas for changes, just a nice calming, a little bit boring, knit. No concentration required so folks who want to talk don't break my concentration or cause me to lose my place and when I put it away quickly and some of the stitches slide off the needles, not a problem. In short, the perfect thing for this time, this place.
This has been an odd year in the prairie. The plants were shorter than usual but the colors more intense. The drought, followed by rain then more drought caused the coreopsis to bloom twice. We have some New England Asters on the hill...

...and the heath asters above them are spreading nicely.

The lobelia didn't get very tall but it is blooming profusely.

The jewelweed is still sparse but it is blooming.

I was able to catch this butterflyweed as it was going to seed.
