O.K., "April is the cruelest month" (I don't want to fight with Thomas Stearns) but March is the ugliest. The snow cover is gone and you can see the dead, brown vegetation. The ground is still wet so no one has gone out to clean up the trash that the winter winds have blown over the lawns. Here in Indiana it is March Madness time (thus called to distinguish it from the general insanity that exists the other 11 months of the year). The TV networks have made us all hostages to the big round ball by showing re-runs. Actually, in chez Warped this is a moot point, March is the beginning of pre-season baseball so our TV is dominated by the little round ball. With uncharacteristic efficiency I have planned ahead and stocked up on reading material; "Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her" by Melanis Rehak; "Confessions of a Teen Sleuth" the "real" Nancy Drew story by Chelsea Cain; "The Silence of the Rain " crime noir in Rio by Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza.
